Conan attacks

Conan the cat yawns in Erin's face. Large teeth are displayed

Erin gets close to Conan the cat - sometimes Conan will gently nip the nose, this time he yawns as the moment approaches. It looks like a small panther has decided to attack our little Erin!

Blue Jays vs Tigers

Blue Jays player passes first base, in a game against the Tigers

We venture to the big TO, T dot, the big smoke to watch a Blue Jays versus the Detroit Tigers at Rogers Centre on Saturday. This Blue Jay passes first base while a ghostly ump keeps everything on the up and up.

Joe got us great tickets - just one row away from the field - along the first base line. The game was pretty exciting with a final score of 10 to 7 for Detroit. Toronto was leading for most of the game then gave it up to Detroit near the end. Still it made for some fine entertainment.

Sitting in the Toronto Rogers Centre right after the Detroit Tigers versus Toronto Blue Jays baseball game ended.

Our seats were right in the middle of a row so when the game ended the crowd parted like the Red Sea as everyone made for the exits. We stayed behind and as I took the picture I thought that these guys had passed some bad gas and the crowd had to scramble to get away from the smell. Joe has the zombie look.

The Acton Quarry

The Acton Quarry - big truck and aggregate piles.

The Acton Quarry (one of Canada's top quarrys) is located east of Highway #25 on the 22nd Sideroad at the 3rd Line - this view is from a vantage point located at the bend in the road on the 3rd Line, just north of the quarry.

The quarry, located within the Niagara Escarpment bioshpere, has seen it's share of controversy, including impact on groundwater flows, wildlife concerns, blasting, potential garbage dump, possible plans for future expansion. It has also contributed to the Town of Acton such as with the new multi-use sports facility in Prospect Park and to supply the construction materials necessary for the growth in the GTA.

The quarry and the Town of Halton Hills has started work to form an after use advisory committee to look at what will happen to the quarry after operations cease and I have requested to be on the committee. I hope that after the stones have stopped being crushed to feed the growth in the GTA that we will be left with something that will be important and beneficial to residents of the area.

UPDATE: I have been accepted onto the advisory committee and our first meeting will be on May 9, 2007. Members of the public can also attend upcoming meetings and I will try to post the contact information on this page when it is available.

Billy Joel at the ACC

enjoying some exotic frozen belinis at the downtown Toronto Pickle Barrel

Shawnessy and Ann enjoy some frozen belinis at the downtown Toronto Pickle Barrel Restaurant prior to our departure for the Billy Joel concert at the Air Canada Centre (ACC). We had wandered past the Dundas Square where a large 4/20 celebration was going on - attended by many people and watched over by a pair of policemen - it was pretty funny to see all the news stations in attendance.

Both the Pickle Barrel and the concert were wicked! We sat in the concert in the section behind the stage - which was close to the action, and Billy Joel sat sideways to us so we had an excellent view.

He is an amazing musician, his band was great, his voice was excellent and he seemed to have a lot of fun and talked quite a bit to the audience. We totally recommend that you go see his show.
